NEXT MEETING: 07/13/26, 7 PM, OZARK-DALE LIBRARY
The "Candidates" above are AI generated (fake). Will you "step up" as a real public servant in Dale County communities?
Special Primary Election - August 11
There will be a Special Primary election for the U.S. Congressional seat pertaining to the redrawn Alabama district 2 on August 11. (Dale County is now in district 2). For Democrats, there is only one qualified candidate (incumbant Shomari Figures), and, therefore, we have been verbally told by local election officials that a Democratic Primary ballot for this office will not be offered to August 11 Democratic voters. You may wish to check back at a later date, to see if that guidance has changed.
On our Campaign Literature Page there are campaign brochures for some of the real Democratic candidates running in 2026 federal and statewide Alabama races. When available to us, we'll add brochures for other candidates. You can also consult candidate websites (links listed later on this page).
For post 2026 future elections, Dale County needs to recruit Democratic candidates for county and state district races (for example legislative races) plus Democratic leaning candidates for non-partisan municipal elections.

Candidate Development
The following information is provided so that citizens contemplating a future candidacy for local office are:
encouraged to begin planning;
encouraged to understand the requirements and processes associated with the offices they seek;
encouraged to review information available from the Secretary of State Office, including Minimum Qualifications For Public Office and qualification dates/schedule;
for municipal races, encouraged to consult applicable municipal clerk for requirements for office.
A potential municipal candidate might want to start attending city council meetings to better understand local issues (including budgeting & funding), and the process and procedures used to resolve these issues. A potential candidate might seek appointment to advisory boards supporting municipal and county government. A potential candidate might want to become actively involved with our local political party organization, and to seek mentoring from existing and former office holders and candidates. A potential candidate may wish to join various civic organizations and advocacy groups and start to exhibit the leadership skills necessary for a successful campaign and office tenure. There are short term and long term considerations in the decision to run for office. It's never too early to begin these considerations and to develop your resume.
The advice above is general in nature. The Dale County Democratic Executive Committee hopes to acquire and develop informational aids to assist our candidates in the future. If you have particular materials, expertise, or experience in candidate development for the Wiregrass area, we (and our future candidates) would appreciate your help.
Please check back for updates to this page. For more detailed discussions and advice, please attend our monthly meetings. We are looking to recruit qualified candidates for local offices (the very best).
